Region performance monitoring for Second Life

Rez the DSE Sim Monitor on any region where you can build. It begins collecting performance statistics immediately and reports to the server every few minutes. Within minutes you get performance graphs and tabular metrics; over hours and days, hourly and daily summaries build up. To view your data, touch the Sim Monitor in-world to get a temporary web URL. You can allow access to just you, your group, or everyone, and you can make the object invisible if you prefer.

To protect your privacy. The URL stays active as long as someone opens it at least once every 24 hours, for up to 14 days from when you requested it; after that it deactivates and you request a new one. Requesting a new URL also retires your previous one, so you can cut off a link you have shared. Without individual accounts, this is how access is scoped to you and anyone you authorize.

All times are SLT (US/Pacific). On detailed reports it is when the Sim Monitor reported the statistics (typically every 10 minutes; during each period it samples the region roughly every 5 seconds and reports the min/max/average). Hourly and daily reports summarize those, and the time shown is the start of the summary period.

No. It queries the region every few seconds using efficient built-in LSL calls and reports min/max/average at the end of each period. It avoids known performance-impacting actions such as region-wide avatar scans or chat listening, so its footprint is negligible.

Yes, and it is harmless. Only one monitor per region contributes metrics at a time, so the same minutes are never counted twice; the one that reported most recently keeps the slot. Any others stay registered as automatic backups and take over on their own if it stops. Your region report lists every monitor it knows about and shows which one is currently reporting.
